This leg offers the perfect combination of true offshore sailing and scenic coastal cruising as we sail from Lagos, Portugal, to the iconic sailing town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Our adventure begins on July 2, when we meet on board, get to know each other, start provisioning, and enjoy a relaxed dinner ashore. On July 3, after final preparations and a comprehensive safety briefing, we cast off the lines in Lagos and begin our northbound journey.

We will round the southwestern tip of continental Europe and head into the Atlantic, making our way along the beautiful coasts of Portugal and Spain. This part of the voyage offers fantastic coastal sailing with planned stops such as Cascais, Figueira da Foz, Porto, Baiona and Illa de Monteagudo. Each stop gives us the opportunity to explore charming towns, stretch our legs, and enjoy excellent local cuisine.

The exact itinerary will be shaped together as a crew, always with careful consideration of weather and sea conditions — just as true seamanship requires.

From La Coruña, we prepare for one of Europe’s classic offshore passages: the crossing of the Bay of Biscay. Known for its reputation and ever-changing conditions, Biscay offers several days of proper bluewater sailing, watch systems, night shifts under the stars, and the deep satisfaction that only an offshore passage can provide.

La Coruña

Before reaching Cowes, we may include an additional stop along the English or French coast — or perhaps in the Channel Islands — depending on conditions and timing.

Arriving in Cowes is something special. During this period, the Admiral’s Cup will be underway and preparations for the legendary Fastnet Race in full swing. You will have the chance to see some of the world’s most impressive racing yachts — many exceeding 100 feet — gathered in what is widely regarded as one of the true capitals of sailing.

Celeste will also participate in the Fastnet Race 2027, making this a unique opportunity to combine adventure sailing with the atmosphere of one of the sport’s most iconic events. If racing across the Irish Sea is on your bucket list, be sure to explore our dedicated Fastnet Race leg as well.

This voyage offers variety, challenge, camaraderie, and unforgettable sailing — from warm Portuguese evenings to the historic waters of the Solent.
