Sailing across the Atlantic is a dream for many sailors—and on this journey, you’ll experience not only the turquoise waters of the Caribbean in Guadeloupe but also the stunning Azores archipelago, visiting Faial and São Miguel.

This passage adds 2,350 nautical miles to your logbook and is considered by many the “true” Atlantic crossing, sailing from west to east, unlike the more common downwind route toward warmer waters.
Daytime temperatures are pleasantly warm, though nights can be cool as we approach the Azores. The Atlantic swim in deep, 5,000-meter blue waters is a must—an unforgettable highlight of the voyage.
Navigating this route requires careful attention to changing weather systems, balancing high- and low-pressure areas to find the best path.
Our adventure begins in Marina Bas du Fort, Guadeloupe, on May 1st, where we will get acquainted with Celeste of Solent and with each other. Preparing for an Atlantic crossing is a serious undertaking, and every crew member plays a part—from provisioning to final boat preparations. Watch teams are established, and a full safety briefing ensures everyone is ready for life at sea.

From Guadeloupe, we set sail on the 2,350 NM journey to Horta, Faial—the legendary destination for long-distance sailors. Onboard, we quickly settle into watch routines: three hours on, six hours off. The watch team is responsible for steering, trimming, and navigation, while all crew members share in life onboard, including cooking, maintenance, and sail handling.
Celeste is a high-performance yacht, and we expect the crossing to take 15–17 days, encountering a mix of calm sailing and more challenging conditions. Upon arrival in Horta, we continue the tradition of adding our own painting to the sailors’ murals on the quay and, of course, visit the iconic Peter’s Café. After a day or two, we sail on to our final Azores destination, Ponta Delgada. Depending on the pace of the crossing, there may even be time to explore one more island along the way.
Reaching Ponta Delgada marks the completion of an unforgettable journey. You’ll have fulfilled a dream, experienced the thrill of the Atlantic, and formed lasting friendships with your fellow crew members.
